Spots: Brooklyn — Coney Island & Gravesend
Spot: Colors is an assortment of concrete circles that are as high as the average curb. There are two central ones that are at good length and devoid of any obstructions in regards to other slabs of concrete overlapping them. The tops are all well-painted and smooth, without being too slippery. The ground here is generic asphalt, although you’ll occasionally run into some patches of pebbles that you may need to kick away.
Bust — ♦♦♦♦ / Very Likely: More often than not, a janitor from the building or a Soviet refugee with a flamboyant fur hat and a bottle of Stolichnaya will come outside and tell you to leave while wielding a kalashnikov. Wintertime is actually the best time to skate here, as there are less custodians around, and even less tenants sitting on the benches to report you.
Location: In between some apartment buildings off Surf Avenue in Coney Island, bordered between 12th Street and 8th Street (there’s no concrete intersection because it is in between the buildings. The spot is closer to 8th Street though.) Take the D, F, N or Q to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue, and make a left onto Surf Avenue. Just past 12th Street, there should be an entrance path on the left side to the buildings. You will need to skate down that for a bit and you will eventually see the wide open playground space.
