Weezy F. Tee Shirt

New Orleans’ Humidity Skateshop (the only shop down south with a Snackman cruiser in the window) put out a shirt commemorating everyone’s favorite drug-addled rapper-skateboarder from the N.O.

In the past ten years, hood kids have gone through a variety of things to yell at skateboarders…

Pre-2000: “Whiteboy!”
2000-2001: “Tony Hawk!”
2002-2003: “Y’all filming for Scarred?”
2003-2007: “Lupe Fiasco!” / “Kick Push!”
2008-2010: “Yo, can you teach me how to ollie?”

…and then it seemed to have stopped. So the question is, has anyone experienced some idiot yelling out “Lil’ Wayne!” at the sight of a skateboard in recent months?

What’s amazing about all of these catchphrases is that the people who say them think they’re the first ones to come up with them. Like, “No, no idiot has ever asked me if I’m filming for Scarred before, that’s such a unique question.”

  • Never heard “can you teach me how to ollie”, but always “Do a kickflip!” and its less proud cousin, “Yo, can you teach me how to kickflip?”

It’ll be a sad day, for gimps like me anyway, when the go-to skateboard trick every commoner knows is the tre flip.
