Three to Five Inches (No Homo)

February 25th, 2007 | 10:20 pm | Spot Updates | 23 Comments

Sick way to start out the week, right? Since you probably won’t be able to skate for a week (minimum), here’s a couple of new spots/spot updates to keep you throwing claimers for the next week.

There are a couple of new ledges across the Williamsburg Bridge. The ground is pretty good for the most part, and people tend to stay out of this side of the park, but the angle for the curved ledge sucks. And yes, please wax it for the rest of us.

If you got lost in New York on your way to Cali and still think jumping down shit is cool, there’s a new double-set in Midtown. The runway’s good, and the landing is a sidewalk. The main problem is that it is big. Check Midtown, west of Fifth Avenue. Or just wait until Ian or Little Kevin find it and ask them.

This spot has been remodeled. The tiles on the floor now have bigger spaces between them, but it’s a fairly decent small-stair spot for quick set-up lines.

In case you haven’t been Downtown in a while, they put marble on the manual pad on Lafayette in front of the Family Court. It’s a lot higher now. But out in Cali they nollie heelflip up Santa Monica and you don’t hear them complaining. Get used to it.

Download the Zoo York Australia tour video (Podcast). YouTube Here.

Officially on the fall-off list after sitting on the edge of it for the past three years.

If you’re an idiot, read this: STOP FLOODING MY GODDAMN INBOX WITH “OMG OMG OMG DID U DELET3 DA SPOTZ S3CT1ON OMG OMG LOLZ?!!?!?!?” E-MAILS! Maybe if you idiots would actually go to the site, and click “Spots” at the top of the page, it would take you to the right section instead of following faulty links on the Skate Perception message board.

All of you bums could probably skate tomorrow, so no longer do you have an excuse to walk around SoHo buying sneakers rejoicing in the fact that there’s snow on the ground, and you can’t skateboard (because you only really do it for your image like the rest of us). Here’s some junk to get you through your work/school day before you go get ready to get drunk tonight…or skate (for those 2 or 3 of you who go on this site and actually skate).

Such A Good finally got their pennies together, renewed their hosting account and are officially back up in business, with a pretty good batch of new clips.

Doing kickflips in slippers is officially the new ghetto pass.

You probably caught this on Official already, but The Harold Hunter Book is definitely worth a few moments of your time.

Trailer for 411 Issue 15.1, which contains a Rodney Torres section and a New York montage.

I normally hate 99% of the stuff posted on GayPerception, but this montage is pretty sick.

Last week they went up against Being John Malcovich, this week, it’s Three 6 Mafia Vs. Captain Planet.

I have Taxicab Dunks for sale if anybody is interested. $100 minimum offer.

Skateshop Art Volume 4

And as a final word of advice, once you finish high school (if you have yet to do so), do not go to college. Trust me.

The 100% official, no holes-barred, totally legit, New York City Little Kid Skate Site Archive is now up. Start downloading and relive those magic moments when we ran Beer Bar like it was liquor in the 1920s. Thanks to Jimmy and Ben for sending me a bunch of the clips.

I just got banned from ebay on my third account over some bullshit, so if anybody has any ideas on how I could set up a new account, please let me know. I’ll give you some free stuff if it works.

Due to school’s consistent drive towards ruining my life, you won’t see too many updates for the remainder of the week due to midterms.

And somebody please tell me when this shit is off Lafayette Street so I can start skating down it again, because it’s bound to ruin my day anytime I see it.

It’s crazy that it has already been a year since Harold passed. Rest in Peace.

Underworld Element – Skypager – Circa 1993

Zoo York – Mixtape – Circa 1997

Zoo York – Vicious Cycle – Circa 2004

Bonus for all the Mixtape 1 and Wu heads: The full Method Man & Ghostface freestyle that was used for Harold’s part in Mixtape

I meant to put up a memorial post earlier, but this snow is making things really disoriented, especially when I woke up after 3PM for the second time in my life today.

Unless you’re the type to head out to Drop In, chances are, you’re going to be spending your long weekend pretty skateboardless. No worries, plenty of time to get drunk, buy new Dunks, cry when Supreme doesn’t have your size, and make sure your outfit matches. Here are a few things to help you get through your Friday before you go out to get drunk, high, or whatever the hell you do when you can’t skate.

The New York Skate Movie Trailer: This was new to me, and honestly, it got me more psyched to go out and skate than any skate video I’ve seen in recent memory. It makes a pretty interesting thesis, suggesting that the core of street skating’s development actually happened in New York, and not California, so I’ll definitely be on line to catch this when it (supposedly) comes out this Spring.

Chairman of the Board is a pretty interesting article from the D.C City Paper about Darren Harper, and how he came up in skateboarding. It makes the same mistakes that pretty much every writer outside of skateboarding does, but is worth your time either way.

48 Blocks has been posting a lot of good things recently: German Nieves Interview, Window Shopping at it’s finest, and Classic SF Footage.

Jersey Dave: Banned From Boston

Pryce Holmes: Tallest Skater in New York City

This guy is my new favorite musical artist of all-time. Dude has five albums out. Five. I got a lot of catching up to do.

I don’t need a magazine cover to tell me that Lil’ Wayne is homo (Actually, yes I do), but he is officially in the ranks of Lupe, Pharell, The Pack, and the other skateboard rappers because of this. “The Block Is Hot” era needs a comeback.

Three 6 Mafia Vs. Being John Malcovich. Thank you God, for placing me on the same earth as these great people.

New York City plans to ban iPods from being used on city streets. Yeah, good luck enforcing that.

And finally, what better way to cure the wintertime blues than with Jeezy the Snowman, he’s iced out, plus he got snow, man!

Don’t forget about the Harold Event tomorrow. I’ll see all of you when it gets warmer, and the snow is gone.

And yes, this is, and probably forever will be, the earliest update in Quarter Snacks history. 7AM. And I have an 8:30 class. Grindin’.
