Ayyo, September was wack.

Since it’s the end of the month, we’re supposed to be posting a montage or something, right? No, sorry to dissapoint you. Instead, here’s a minute long clip of reasons why there is no montage for the time being. I’m going to start posting smaller clips of throwaways and random shit that wouldn’t make it into normal clips every couple of days, so if you read this, start checking the site more often so you can see even more stupid footage.

Euro Report: Volume 3

September 22nd, 2006 | 4:02 am | Features & Interviews | No Comments

Greetings again from across the pond, you’re reading Week 3 of the Euro Report.

And now I present to you: Milano Centrale

Sorry for the Myspace shot, but it had recently occurred to me that as of yet, there had not been any actual photographical evidence of my departure. So, to appease those who miss my face, there it is.

One day in Florence, fed up with cobblestone and eternally fed up with NYU students, I decided to up and leave on a whim to go to Milan. Solo, mind you. And with my luck the way it’s been so far, I found out, the second after I booked the hotel, it was supposed to pour all weekend.

It still pretty much sucks, although at least now I know that everyone else feels the same way.

Not Americans, of course. They’re all busy being dumb and eye humping stuff with some retarded historical significance like this:

The Duomo: gnarly, but I see it all the time so I think it’s kinda gay now. You don’t see me get a boner every time I walk by some thing big and famous back home.

The people who are in accordance with me are the skaters that I’ve met here. They’re pretty rad guys who are way more psyched on good skate spots than this ridiculous “art” or “architecture” or whatever bullshit you want to call it. They were gracious enough to take me to some spots over the last week.

Euro Report: Volume 1

Dear Quarter Snacks Readers,

In case you assholes haven’t already figured it out, I’m in Europe. Florence, Italy, to be exact. You may be asking yourself, “What the fuck? Why would any jerk want to do that?”

Well, it can be easily formulated into this equation: Europe = good for skating + (beautiful women) – 0 (extra cost of school)

Now, if you’re not borderline retarded, you will see the beauty of this mathematical problem. Although, I do have a wonderful lady back in NYC, so my penis will not get a taste of Europe, thus that part of the equation means nothing. However, since skateboarding governs most of my daily activity, as I’m assuming it does yours, this means nothing. And if you’re calling bullshit on my staying faithful, my girlfriend is going to personally make you choke on her first.

So, here I am in Florence, Italy, with NYU (my school) until December.

Do any of you watch “Arrested Development?” Good.

I’ve made a huge mistake.

Here are a couple scans on their New York shit from magazines that I had lying around from the late 90s/early 2000s. I don’t have a lot of the original issues so I can’t list original photographer names. Click on whichever photo to see a bigger version.

I have no idea who Aaron Yeager is (I don’t know shit about pro/am skateboarders in the first place), but he is the only person I’ve ever seen skate the higher, frontside for goofy side at CBS. That company the ad is for sure did last long…

From left to right: 1) Ian Reid, kickflip in big pants in Brooklyn. Circa 1999. 2) Vinny Ponte, ollie down the Flushing six back when doing a flip trick down it seemed impossible. Circa 1998. 3) There’s no name caption for this photo, but it is the only time I have ever seen anybody do a flip trick, or even skate this bank at this spot. Circa 1999.

I have no clue who this guy is either, but I’ve passed this spot at least once a week for the past two years, and it never seemed like it would be possible to skate it, because it has the worst ground ever leading up to it, not to mention (literaly) seven cracks in the run-up space to it. Bravo to whoever this dude is for doing a front board on it. Circa 1999.

This is a Ben Liversedge interview that was in Transworld sometime during 1999. It’s probably the only interview I’ve ever come across where every photo was in New York. And it has a photo at one of the greatest spots in the history of skateboarding (Broadway Bump R.I.P), so it is definitley worth a look.
